Thursday, October 13th, 1977: Today Omaha's Willie Aikens was named the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League Sluggers Award winner for 1977. He pounded KMLL hurlers hard all season long, collecting 134 hits in 370 at-bats.
With a .362 batting average, 24 doubles, no triples, 26 home runs, 79 RBIs and 76 runs scored, he was the top votegetter.

Wednesday, October 12th, 1977: The Alexander Cartwright League has heralded Ray Burris of the Vancouver Mounties as the #1 man on the mound for the 1977 campaign.
This year's Hurlers Award winner stood out by running up an impressive 17-10 record, holding opposing hitters to a .231 batting average and posting a 3.21 ERA. The 27-year-old hurler tossed 199 innings, gave up 172 hits, fanned 117 and issued 68 walks.
